Every small business has a story — ours begins on a little street called Stanley Avenue. It’s where Brad and I, Hunter, first met while he was attending the University of Kentucky. What started as a college romance grew into a marriage, a family of three wonderful kids, and eventually, a dream we never imagined would become our business.

As a military family, life has always been full of change, challenges, and new chapters. For me, being a stay-at-home mom has been the greatest joy — but I also longed for something that gave me a sense of purpose beyond the day-to-day. We wanted a hobby that we could share together, something creative that felt like “ours.” That’s when candle making found us.

We didn’t start with a business plan or a big workshop. Instead, we started with curiosity, late nights of research, and lots of trial and error at the kitchen table. From the very beginning, one thing was clear: if we were going to do this, it had to align with what matters most to us — the health and safety of our family. That’s why every Stanley Ave candle is made with 100% soy wax and phthalate-free fragrances. We wanted something we could feel good about burning in our own home — safe for us, our kids, and our pets — and something we’d be proud to share with others.

What began as a bonding hobby quickly turned into a passion. The more we poured, blended, and tested, the more we fell in love with the process — and the idea that our creations could bring warmth and comfort to other families, too. Slowly but surely, with the support of friends, family, and early customers, The Stanley Ave Candle Co. was born.

Today, we’re beyond grateful for the community we’ve built. Our candles have found their way into homes near and far, and with every order, we’re reminded why we started: to create clean-burning, hand-poured candles that tell a story and bring people together.
